Veterinary Pathology Resource Facility​

The Veterinary Pathology Resource Facility (VPRF) is a project of the Veterinary and Comparative Pathologists Society of the Philippines (VCPSP), the Philippine Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) Inc., USA, and the University of the Philippines College of Veterinary Medicine (UPCVM). The CL Davis Foundation Board of Directors approved the resolution for the establishment of an independent veterinary pathology study Center at the UPCVM, Los Baños, Laguna. Thus, making the UPCVM Center the 4th established outside the US and the only one in the Asia-Pacific Region.

In 2005, a temporary structure located near the UPCVM Library was built to house the accumulated donations which composed of books, 3000 histologic slides together with case histories and videotapes (donated by President and Registrar of the CL Davis Foundation Dr. HA Hartman), glass slides, videotapes, DVDs, and equipment including a Leitz Laborlux 12 three-headed microscope (donated by Eli Lilly and Company through Elanco Animal Health Philippines).

The VPRF was completed through various generous donors namely PVMA – USA and their veterinary alumni and friends in the US, members of two veterinary alumni organizations: the University of the Philippines Society of Men Alumni Association of America and the Society for the Advancement of Veterinary Education and Research in the USA, UP Los Baños through Chancellor Luis Rey Velasco, and local fund activities organized by VCPSP and PVMA in the Philippines, and was inaugurated on the 22nd of February 2010.

The first International Continuing Professional Education Symposium of the Veterinary and Comparative Pathologist Society of the Philippines on the 1st and 2nd of September 2010 as well as the Second International Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Symposium in Veterinary and Comparative Pathology on the 4th and 5th of September 2012 were held in the facility. Currently, aside from housing the collection and various equipment, VPRF serves as a venue for various scientific symposiums and workshops.
